This list of Google products includes all major desktop, mobile and online products released or acquired by Google Inc. They are either a gold release, in beta development, or part official of the Google Labs initiative. This list also includes prior products, that have been merged, discarded or renamed. Features within products, such as web search features, are not listed.

Standalone applications

AdWords Editor (Mac OS X, Windows 2000 SP3+, XP, Vista): Desktop application to manage a Google AdWords account, it lets users make changes to their account and advertising campaigns before synchronizing with the online service.

Google Chrome (Windows XP, Vista, 7, GNU/Linux, Mac OS X): Web browser.

Google Desktop (Mac OS X, Windows 2000 SP3+, XP, Vista, 7, Linux): Desktop search application that indexes emails, documents, music, photos, chats, Web history and other files. It allows the installation of Google Gadgets.

Google Earth (Linux, Mac OS X, Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, iPhone, IPad, Android): Virtual 3D globe that uses satellite imagery, aerial photography, GIS from Google's repository.

Gmail/Google Notifier (Mac OS X, Windows 2000, XP): Alerts users to new messages in their Gmail account.

Google Pack (Windows XP, Vista, 7): Collection of computer applications—some Google-created (including Google Earth, Google Desktop, Picasa, Google Talk, and Google Chrome), some not.

Photos Screensaver: Slideshow screensaver as part of Google Pack, which displays images sourced from a hard disk, or through RSS and Atom Web feeds.

Picasa (Mac OS X, Linux, Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7): Photo organization and editing application, providing photo library options and simple effects. Also includes Facial Recognition and GeoTagging features.

Picasa Web Albums Uploader (Mac OS X): An application to upload images to the "Picasa Web Albums" service. It consists of both an iPhoto plug-in and a stand-alone application.

Quick Search box (Windows, Mac OS X): A search box, based on Quicksilver, which allows easily viewing installed applications or performing online searches.

Secure Access (Windows 2000, XP): VPN client for Google WiFi users, whose equipment does not support WPA or 802.1x protocols

SketchUp (Mac OS X, Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7): Modeling application to sketch simple 3D structures for integrating into Google Earth.

Talk (Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7): Application for VoIP and instant messaging. It consists of both a service and a client used to connect to the service, which uses the XMPP protocol.

Visigami (Mac OS X Leopard): Image search application screen saver that searches files from Google Images, Picasa and Flickr.

Pinyin Input Method (Windows 2000, XP, Vista) (Google China): Input Method Editor that is used to convert Chinese Pinyin characters, which can be entered on Western-style keyboards, to Chinese characters.

Japanese Input (Windows XP SP2+, Vista SP1+, 7, Mac OS X Leopard+) (Google Japan)

Japanese Input Method Editor.

Google Indic Input Method (Windows 2000, XP, Vista) (Google India): Input Method Editor that is used to convert Indic characters, which can be entered on Western-style keyboards, to Indian Language characters.

Desktop extensions

These products created by Google are extensions to software created by other organizations.

Blogger Web Comments (Firefox only): Displays related comments from other Blogger users.

Dashboard Widgets for Mac (Mac OS X Dashboard Widgets): Collection of mini-applications including Gmail, Blogger and Search History.

Gears (Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari): A browser plug-in that enables development of off-line browser applications.

Send to Mobile (Firefox; discontinued, and Google Chrome): Allows users to send text messages to their mobile phone about web content.

Toolbar (Firefox, Internet Explorer): Web browser toolbar with features such as a Google Search box, pop-up blocker and ability for website owners to create buttons.

Online

These products can be accessed through a browser on a mobile device.

Blogger Mobile: Available on some US networks only. Allows updating Blogger blog from mobile devices.

Buzz: Buzz is a social networking service built into Gmail. It was released on February 9, 2010.

Calendar: Displays a list of all Google Calendar events on a mobile device; users can quickly add events to personal calendars.

Documents: View documents on a mobile device.

Gmail: Access a Gmail account from a mobile device using a standard mobile web browser. Alternatively, Google provides a specific mobile application to access and download Gmail messages quicker. User must now provide phone number to verify account.

News: Allows user to access Google News in a mobile-optimized view.

Google Mobilizer: Optimizes web pages for mobile web browsers.

iGoogle: Mobile version of iGoogle that can be easily customised with modules.

Orkut: Connect and share with friends on the go.

Product Search: Updated version of the prior Froogle Mobile that allows users to easily search for information about a product.

Reader: Displays Google Reader on a mobile device.

Mobile search: Search web pages, images, local listings and mobile-specific web pages through the Google search engine. Mobile view is enabled by default.

Picasa Web Albums: Allows viewing, sharing photo albums that are stored online on Picasa.

Google Latitude: Google Latitude is a mobile geolocation tool that lets friends know where users are via Google Maps.

Google Maps Navigation (Android only): An Android navigation application for GPS-enabled mobile devices (such as Google Nexus One) with 3D views, voice guided turn-by-turn navigation and automatic rerouting. It is currently available in the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium.^[1]

Downloadable

Some of these products must be downloaded and run from a mobile device.

Gmail: A downloadable application that has many advantages over accessing Gmail through a web [interface] on a mobile such as the ability to interact with Gmail features including labels and archiving. Requires a properly configured Java Virtual Machine, which is not available by default on some platforms (such as Palm Treo).

Maps (Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, iOS, Symbian, Palm OS, Palm WebOS, and J2ME): A mobile application to view maps on mobile devices. Lets users find addresses and plot directions. Teamed with a GPS, it can use user geolocation and show current location on the map. Users can also share current locations with friends through Latitude. The device must have either a specific application to use Google maps or any phone with a properly configured Java Virtual Machine.

Sync: Synchronizes mobile phones with multiple Google calendars and contacts using a Google Account.

Talk (Android, BlackBerry, iOS): VoIP and text application for smartphones. The Android version is text only and lacks the VoIP function of BlackBerry version.

Sky Map (Android, Mobile): Augmented reality program displaying a star map which is scrolled by moving the phone.

Voice (Android, Blackberry, iPhone): (available in U.S. only) A downloadable application for accessing Google Voice functions on selected devices.^[2]

YouTube: A downloadable application to view YouTube videos on selected devices.

YouTube Remote (Android): A downloadable application to view YouTube videos, it lets users browse and play videos, control television volume and essentially do everything the YouTube Leanback product supports, but from their mobile handset.^[3]

Listen (Android, Mobile; from Google Labs): A downloadable application for subscribing to and streaming podcasts and Web audio.

Goggles (Android, iOS; from Google Labs): A downloadable application that uses image recognition to trigger searches based on pictures taken with a device's built-in camera; taking pictures of things (examples: famous landmark, product barcode) causes searches for information on them.^[4]

Shopper (Android, iOS): A downloadable application that makes shopping easier and smarter.

Reader (Android): A downloadable RSS application that supports unread counts, friends, sharing, liking, and starring.^[5]

Books (Android, iOS): (available in U.S. only) A downloadable application that allows users to buy and download books and keep them stored on remote servers, allows reading one book on a variety of devices.^[6]

Translate (Android, iOS): Allows users to translate conversations instantly.

Music (near future): Will be an online music store that is scheduled to start operations in 2011.^[7]

These products must be accessed via a Web browser.

Account management

Dashboard: Dashboard is an online tool that allows Google Account holders to view all their personal information Google is storing on their servers.

Advertising

Ad Planner: An online tool that allows users to view traffic estimates for popular web sites and create media plans.

Ad Manager: A hosted ad management solution

AdMob: Mobile advertising provider

AdSense: Advertisement program for Website owners. Adverts generate revenue on either a per-click or per-thousand-ads-displayed basis, and adverts shown are from AdWords users, depending on which adverts are relevant.

AdWords: Google's flagship advertising product, and main source of revenue. AdWords offers pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, and site-targeted advertising for both text and banner ads.

Google Advertising Professionals: Google's AdWords partner certification program, providing AdWords qualifications to agencies that pass exams and other criteria

AdWords Website Optimizer: Integrated AdWords tool for testing different website content, in order to gain to the most successful advertising campaigns.

Audio Ads: Radio advertising program for US businesses. Google began to roll this product out on 15 May 2007 through its existing AdWords interface, however has been discontinued.

Click-to-Call: Calling system so users can call advertisers for free at Google's expense from search results pages. This service was discontinued.

DoubleClick: Internet ad serving provider.

Grants: Scheme for non-profit organizations to benefit from free Cost-Per-Click advertising on the AdWords network.

TV Ads: CPM-driven television advertising scheme available on a trial basis, currently aimed towards professional advertisers, agencies and partners.

Communication and publishing

3D Warehouse: Google 3D Warehouse is an online service that hosts 3D models of existing objects, locations (including buildings) and vehicles created in Google SketchUp by the aforementioned application's users. The models can be downloaded into Google SketchUp by other users or Google Earth.

Apps: Custom domain and service integration service for businesses, enterprise and education, featuring Gmail and other Google products.

Blogger: Weblog publishing tool. Users can create custom, hosted blogs with features such as photo publishing, comments, group blogs, blogger profiles and mobile-based posting with little technical knowledge.

Boutiques: Boutiques is a personalized shopping experience that lets users find and discover fashion goods.

Buzz: Integrated with Gmail service allowing to share updates, photos, videos and more at once. It lets users make conversations about things they find interesting.

Calendar: Free online calendar, includes Gmail integration, calendar sharing, and a unique "quick add" function that allows inserting events using natural language input. It is similar to those offered by Yahoo! and Windows Live.

Docs: Document, spreadsheet and presentation application, with document collaboration and publishing capabilities.

FeedBurner: News feed management services, including feed traffic analysis and advertising facilities.

Friend Connect: Friend Connect is an online service that empowers website and blog owners to add social features to their websites. It also allows users to connect with their friends on different websites that have implemented Google Friend Connect on their website.

Gadgets: Mini-applications designed to display information or provide a function in a succinct manner. Available in Universal or Desktop format.

Gmail (also termed Google Mail): Free Webmail IMAP and POP email service provided by Google, known for its abundant storage and advanced interface. It was first released in an invitation-only form on April 1, 2004. Mobile access and Google Talk integration is also featured.

iGoogle (was Google Personalized Homepage): Customizable homepage, which can contain Web feeds and Google Gadgets, launched in May 2005. It was renamed to iGoogle on April 30, 2007 (was used internally by Google).

Jaiku: Jaiku is a social networking, micro-blogging and lifestreaming service comparable to Twitter.

Knol: Knol is a service that enables subject experts and other users to write authoritative articles related to various topics.

Marratech e-Meeting: Web conferencing software, used internally by Google's employees. Google acquired the software from creator Marratech on April 19, 2007. Google has not yet stated what it will do with the product.

Notebook (unsupported by Google, replaced with Docs): Web clipping application for saving online research. The tool permits users to clip text, images, and links from pages while browsing, save them online, access them from any computer, and share them with others. Google recently stopped development on Notebook and no longer accepts sign-ups. While old users can still access their notebooks, newcomers are offered to try other services such as Google Docs and Google Bookmarks.^[8]

Orkut: Social networking service, where users can list their personal and professional information, create relationships amongst friends and join communities of mutual interest. In November 2006, Google opened Orkut registration to everyone, instead of being invitation only.

Panoramio: Photos of the world.

Picasa Web Albums: Online photo sharing, with integration with the main Picasa program.

Picnik: Online photo editing service.

Profiles: Allows controlling how users appear and present themselves on Google products, to other Google users, and tell others a bit more about who they are.

Questions and Answers (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Thai): Community-driven knowledge market website. Launched on June 26, 2007 that allows users to ask and answer questions posed by other users.^[9]

Reader: Web-based news aggregator, capable of reading Atom and RSS feeds. It lets users search, import and subscribe to feeds. The service also embeds audio enclosures in the page. Major revisions to Google Reader were made in October 2006.

Google Sidewiki: A browser sidebar and service that allows contributing and reading helpful information alongside any web page; went online on September 23, 2009‎.

Sites (was Jotspot): Website creation tool for private or public groups, for both personal and corporate use.

SMS Channels (Google India only): Launched September 2008, allows users to create and subscribe to channels over SMS. Channels can be based on RSS feeds.

Voice (United States only): Known as "GrandCentral" before 2009-03-11, this is a free voice communication system that includes a POTS telephone number. It includes a follow-me service that lets users forward their Google voice phone number to simultaneously ring up to 6 other phone numbers. It also features a unified voice mail service, SMS and free outgoing calls via Google's "click2call" and 3rd party dialers.

Wave (unsupported by Google.): Google Wave is a product that helps users communicate and collaborate on the web. A "wave" is equal parts conversation and document, where users can almost instantly communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

YouTube: Free video sharing Web site which lets users upload, view, and share video clips. In October 2006, Google, Inc., announced that it had reached a deal to acquire the company for $1.65 billion USD in Google's stock. The deal closed on 13 November 2006.

Development

Android: Open Source mobile phone platform developed by the Open Handset Alliance

App Engine: A tool that allows developers to write and run web applications.

Code: Google's site for developers interested in Google-related development. The site contains Open Source code and lists of their API services. Also provides project hosting for any free and open source software.

Mashup Editor: (deprecated as of January 14, 2009) Web Mashup creation with publishing facilities, syntax highlighting, debugging.

OpenSocial: A set of common APIs for building social applications on many websites.

Subscribed Links: Allows developers to create custom search results that Google users can add to their search pages.

Webmaster Tools (was Google Sitemaps): Sitemap submission and analysis for the Sitemaps protocol. Renamed from Google Sitemaps to cover broader features, including query statistics and robots.txt analysis.

Web Toolkit: An open source Java software development framework that allows web developers to create Ajax applications in Java.

Google Chrome OS: An Operating System utilizing the Linux kernel and a custom Window manager.

Google Go: A compiled, concurrent programming language developed by Google.

Google Closure Tools: Javascript tools used by Google products such as GMail, Google Docs and Google Maps

Mapping

City Tours: An overlay to Maps that shows interesting tours within a city

Maps: Mapping service that indexes streets and displays satellite and street-level imagery, providing driving directions and local business search.

Map Maker: Edit maps in more than 100 countries and watch the edits go into Google Maps. Become a citizen cartographer and help map the world.

Building Maker: Web based building and editing tool to create 3D buildings for Google Earth.

Google Body: A 3D anatomical model of human body.

Mars: Imagery of Mars using the Google Maps interface. Elevation, visible imagery and infrared imagery can be shown. It was released on March 13, 2006, the anniversary of the birth of astronomer Percival Lowell.

Moon: NASA imagery of the moon through the Google Maps interface. It was launched on July 20, 2005, in honor of the first manned Moon landing on July 20, 1969.

Ride Finder: Taxi, limousine and shuttle search service, using real time position of vehicles in 14 US cities. Ride Finder uses the Google Maps interface and cooperates with any car service that wishes to participate. Discontinued as of October 2009.

Sky Map: An Internet tool to view stars and galaxies, can be used via browser version of "Google Sky".

Transit: Public transport trip planning through the Google Maps interface, now fully integrated with maps. Released on December 7, 2005.

Search

Aardvark: Social search utility which allows people to ask and answer questions within their social networks. It uses people's claimed expertise to match askers with good answerers.

Accessible Search: Search engine for the blind and visually impaired. It prioritises usable and accessible web sites in the search results, so users incur minimal distractions when browsing.

Alerts: Email notification service, which sends alerts based on chosen search terms, whenever there are new results. Alerts include web results, Groups results news, and video.

Base: Google submission database, that enables content owners to submit content, have it hosted and make it searchable. Information within the database is organized using attributes.

Blog search: Weblog search engine, with a continuously-updated search index. Results include all blogs, not just those published through Blogger. Results can be viewed and filtered by date.

Books (was Google Print): Search engine for the full text of printed books. Google scans and stores in its digital database. The content that is displayed depends on the arrangement with the publishers, ranging from short extracts to entire books.

Checkout: Online payment processing service provided by Google aimed at simplifying the process of paying for online purchases. Webmasters can choose to implement Google Checkout as a form of payment.

Code Search: Search engine for programming code found on the Internet.

Dictionary: Once part of Google Translate, it is now a standalone service that allows searching of words and phrases from over 22 languages.

Directory: Collection of links arranged into hierarchical subcategories. The links and their categorization are from the Open Directory Project, but are sorted using PageRank.

Directory (Google China): Navigation directory, specifically for Chinese users.

Experimental Search: Options for testing new interfaces whilst searching with Google, including Timeline views and keyboard shortcuts.

Fast Flip: Online news aggregator that mimics the experience of flicking through a newspaper or magazine, allowing visual search of stories in manner similar to microfiche.

Finance: Searchable US business news, opinion, and financial data. Features include company-specific pages, blog search, interactive charts, executives information, discussion groups and a portfolio.

Groups: Web and email discussion service and Usenet archive. Users can join a group, make a group, publish posts, track their favorite topics, write a set of group web pages updatable by members and share group files. In January, 2007, version 3 of Google Groups was released. New features include the ability to create customised pages and share files.

Google Hotpot: is a search that allows people to rate restaurants, hotels etc. and share them with friends.

Image Labeler: Game that induces participants to submit valid descriptions (labels) of images in the web, in order to later improve Image Search.

Image Search: Image search engine, with results based on the filename of the image, the link text pointing to the image and text adjacent to the image. When searching, a thumbnail of each matching image is displayed.

Language Tools: Collection of linguistic applications, including one that allows users to translate text or web pages from one language to another, and another that allows searching in web pages located in a specific country or written in a specific language.

Life Search (Google China): Search engine tailored towards everyday needs, such as train times, recipes and housing.

Movies: A specialised search engine that obtains show times of films near a user-entered location and provides reviews of films compiled from several different websites.

Music (Google China): A site containing links to a large archive of Chinese pop music (principally Cantopop and Mandopop), including audio streaming over Google's own player, legal lyric downloads, and in most cases legal MP3 downloads. The archive is provided by Top100.cn (i.e., this service does not search the whole Internet) and is available in mainland China only.

News: Automated news compilation service and search engine for news. There are versions of the aggregator for more than 20 languages. While the selection of news stories is fully automated, the sites included are selected by human editors.

News Archive Search: Feature within Google News, that allows users to browse articles from over 200 years ago.

Patent Search: Search engine to search through millions of patents, each result with its own page, including drawings, claims and citations.

Product Search (was Froogle): Price engine that searches online stores, including auctions, for products.

Scholar: Search engine for the full text of scholarly literature across an array of publishing formats and scholarly fields. Today, the index includes virtually all peer-reviewed journals available online.

Sets: Generates a list of items when users enter a few examples. For example, entering "Green, Purple, Red" emits the list "Green, Purple, Red, Blue, Black, White, Yellow, Orange, Brown."

SMS: Mobile phone short message service offered by Google in several countries, including the USA, Japan, Canada, India and China and formerly the UK, Germany and Spain. It allows search queries to be sent as a text message. The results are sent as a reply, with no premium charge for the service.

Squared: Creates tables of information about a subject from unstructured data

Suggest: Auto-completion in search results while typing to give popular searches.

University Search: Listings for search engines for university websites.

U.S. Government Search: Search engine and Personalized Homepage that exclusively draws from sites with a .gov TLD.

Video: Video search engine and online store for clips internally submitted by companies and the general public. Google's main video partnerships include agreements with CBS, NHL and the NBA. Also searches videos posted on YouTube, Metacafe, Daily Motion, and other popular video hosting sites.

Voice Local Search: Non-premium phone service for searching and contacting local businesses

Web History (was Google Search History, Personalized Search): Web page tracking, which records Google searches, Web pages, images, videos, music and more. It also includes Bookmarks, search trends and item recommendations. Google released Search History in April 2005, when it began to record browsing history,^[10] later expanding and renaming the service to Web History in April 2007.^[11]

Web Search: Web search engine, which is Google's core product. It was the company's first creation, coming out of beta on September 21, 1999, and remains their most popular and famous service. It receives 1 billion requests a day and is the most used search engine on the Internet. Google Also offers Regional search by its regional level domains, it has 189 different regional domains, see List of Google domains

Statistics

Analytics: Traffic statistics generator for defined websites, with strong AdWords integration. Webmasters can optimize their ad campaigns, based on the statistics that are given. Analytics is based on the Urchin software and the new version released in May 2007 integrates improvements based on Measure Map.

Gapminder: Data trend viewing platform to make nations' statistics accessible on the internet in an animated, interactive graph form.

Insights: Google Insights for Search is a service by Google similar to Google Trends, providing insights into the search terms people have been entering into the Google search engine.

Trends: Graph plotting application for Web Search statistics, showing the popularity of particular search terms over time. Multiple terms can be shown at once. Results can also be displayed by city, region or language. Related news stories are also shown. Has "Google Trends for Websites" sub-section which shows popularity of websites over time.

Zeitgeist: Collection of lists of the most frequent search queries. There used to be weekly, monthly and yearly lists, and topic and country specific lists. Closed 22 May 2007 and replaced by "Hot Trends, a dynamic feature in Google Trends". An annual Zeitgeist summary for the US and other countries is still produced.

Fusion Tables: Tool for gathering and visualizing arbitrary data.

Other

Health: Lets users control and organize all of their health information in one place; claims to be safe, secure, and free.

Labs: A website demonstrating and testing new Google projects.

Hardware

Google Search Appliance: Hardware device that can connect to corporate intranets to index/search company files.

Google Mini: Reduced capacity, lower cost version of the Google Search Appliance.

Nexus One: Smartphone running the Android open source mobile operating system.

Nexus S: Smartphone running the Android open source mobile operating system, version 2.3 "Gingerbread".

Services

Google Crisis Response: A public project, which covers ongoing and past disasters, turmoils and other emergencies.
Google Public DNS: A publicly accessible DNS server run by Google.

Applications that have been discontinued by Google, either because of integration with other Google products, or through lack of support.

Answers: Question and answer service, allowing users to pay researchers to answer questions. Google announced the close of service on November 28, 2006. All past discussions have been publicly archived.

Browser Sync: Saved browser settings for backup and use on other installations of Mozilla Firefox.

Co-op: Search can be defined to specified web sites or areas of a site. Free to set up Google Co-op renamed Google Custom Search.

Deskbar: User desktop bar with a built-in minibrowser. It was discontinued when a very similar feature was added to Google desktop. Some users preferred Deskbar for its ability to add custom search and the minibrowser so there was no need to open another window. The last release, version 5.95, had a .NET plugin.

Free Search: Free code to embed either web search or site search into another website. Discontinued in favour of Google Co-op Custom Search Engine.

Hello: Allowed users to send images across the Internet and publish them to blogs.

Joga Bonito: Soccer community site, similar to services such as MySpace, in that each member had a profile, and could join groups based on shared interests. The service allowed a user to meet other fans, create games and clubs, access athletes from Nike, and watch and upload video clips and photos.

Lively (Windows XP, Vista): 3D animated chat program launched on July 9, 2008 and closed December 31, 2008.^[12]

Local: Local listings service, before it was integrated with mapping. The merged service was then called Google Local, which was further renamed to Google Maps due to popular demand. Google Local still exists, but only for Google Mobile Search.

Google MK-14: A 4U rack mounted server for Google Radio Automation system. Google Inc. has sold its Google Radio Automation business to WideOrbit Inc.^[13]

Music Trends: Music ranking of songs played with iTunes, Winamp, Windows Media Player and Yahoo Music. Trends were generated by Google Talk's "share your music status" feature.

Page Creator: Webpage-publishing program, which can be used to create pages and to host them on Google's servers. However, to focus on another Google Webpage-publishing service called Google Sites, new sign-ups are no longer accepted since 2008. And all existing content on Page Creator has been transferred to Google Sites in 2009.

Personalized Search: Search results personalization, now fully merged with Google Accounts and Web History.

Public Service Search: Non-commercial organization service, which included free SiteSearch, traffic reports and unlimited search queries. Discontinued in February 2007 and re-directed to Google Co-op.

Rebang (Google China): Google China's search trend site, similar to Google Zeitgeist. As of 2010^[update], part of Google Labs.^[14]^[15]

Related Links: Script that places units for related Web content, including pages, searches and videos, on the owner's Website, through embedded code. Discontinued in July 2007.

SearchMash: Search engine that means to "test innovative user interfaces." Among its features are the ability to display image results on the same page as web results, feedback about features, and continuous scrolling results. For 100% protection against improper use, you can lock your telephone electronically. Here, you only know the secret code. You can lock/allow Local, STD or ISD calls in many way viz. all calls allowed, only local calls allowed, only STD & Local calls allowed, all outgoing calls barred etc.

Register Secret Code	Suppose you want to make 5555 your secret code. Follow this procedure to register this: Dial 123 5555 5555 then wait for the acceptance tone then disconnect. Your code is registered.
Change secret code	Suppose you want to change current code 5555 to 4444 then Dial 123 5555 4444 then wait for the acceptance tone then disconnect. Your new code(4444) is registered.

How did one survive growing up in the 80's and 90's? We had no seatbelts, no airbags..Cycling was like a breath of fresh air…

No safety helmets, knee pads or elbow pads, with plenty of cardboards between spokes to make it sound like a motorbike…

When thirsty we only drank tap water, bottled water was still a mystery…

We kept busy collecting bits & pieces so we could build all sort of things …

and we were fearless on our bicycles even when the brakes failed going downhill…

We were showing off how tough we are, by how high we could climb trees & then jumping down….It was great fun….

We could stay out to play for hours, as long as we got back before dark, in time for dinner…

We walked to school, or sometimes we even rode our bicycle.

We had no mobile phones, but we always managed to find each other…. How?

We lost teeth, broke arms & legs, we got cuts and bruises and bloody noses…. nobody complained as we had so much fun, it wasn't anybody's fault, only ours

We ate everything in sight, cakes, bread, chocolate, ice-cream, sweet sugary drinks, fruits..yet, we stayed skinny by fooling around.

And if one of us was lucky to find a 1 litre coca cola bottle we all had a swig from it & guess what? Nobody picked up any germs...

We did not have Play Stations, MP3, Nintendo's, I-Pods, Video games, 99 Cable TV channels, DVD's, Home Cinema, Home Computers, Laptops, Chat-rooms, Internet, etc ...

BUT, we had REAL FRIENDS!!!!

We called on friends to come out to play, never rang the doorbell, just went around the backdoor…

We played with sticks and stones, played cowboys and Indians, doctors and nurses, hide and seek, soccer games, over and over again…

When we failed our exams we were given a second chance by simply repeating the same grade…without visiting psychiatrists, psychologists or counselors…Such were the days…

We had freedom, success, disappointments and responsibilities. ..

Most of all, we learned to respect others…

Are YOU from that generation?? If that's the case, email this to all your friends from the same era…

Maybe this message will help them forget the stress that surrounds us these days….

and just for a few moments puts a smile to their faces as they remember what life was really like in the good old days……

Swami Nityananda – Ranjitha Scandal Video has been an issue today. It was said that Swami Nityananda partner in the video was Ranjitha. Police officials have filed two cases against the Godman Nithyananda Swami in the charges of cheating and offending religious sentiments.

The ashram authority claims that Nithyananda‘s video is fake and stressed that it is a graphically manipulated video for defaming the religious guru. However, some of the devotees share a different opinion. One devotee who stayed in the ashram for three months said that actress Ranjitha and Swami Nithyananda were always seen together. Government introduce a new Medical Scheme for Central Government Employees and Pensioners

Government introduce a new Medical Scheme for Central Government Employees and Pensioners as in the name of Central Government Employees and Pensioners Health Insurance Scheme (CGEPHIS). In all over India, pensioners are getting meager amount of Rs.100 as Medical Allowance (except CGHS beneficiaries). It is estimated that approximately 17 lakh serving employees and 7 lakh pensioners shall be offered this Scheme and Government plan to enroll all serving employees and pensioners on compulsory / optional basis.

Some key points regarding the scheme:-

CENTRAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES AND PENSIONERS HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME (CGEPHIS)

BENEFICIARIES:

CGEPHIS shall be compulsory to new Central Government Employees who would be joining service after the introduction of the Health Insurance Scheme.

CGEPHIS shall be compulsory to new Central Government retirees who would be retiring from the service after the introduction of the Insurance Scheme.

CGEPHIS would be available on voluntary basis for the following:

Existing Central Government Employees and Pensioners who are already CGHS beneficiaries. In this case they have to opt out of CGHS scheme. They will also have the option of choosing both CGHS and Insurance policy. In such case the total insurance premium has to be borne by the member.

Existing Central Government Employees and Pensioners who are not CGHS beneficiaries but are covered under CS (MA)

INSURANCE COVERAGE:

In-patient benefits – The Insurance Scheme shall pay all expenses incurred in course of medical treatment availed of by the beneficiaries in an Empanelled Hospitals/ Nursing Homes (24 hours admission clause) within the country, arising out of either illness/disease/injury and or sickness.

NOTE: In case of organ transplant, the expenses incurred for the Donor are also payable under the scheme.

Pre & Post hospitalization benefit: Benefit up to 30 days Pre Hospitalization & up to 60 days Post Hospitalization respectively which would cover all expenses related to treatment of the sickness for which hospitalization was done.

FAMILY SIZE:

Serving/Retired Employees: Self, Spouse, Two dependent children and up to Two Dependent Parents. New born shall be considered insured from day one till the expiry of the current policy irrespective of the number of members covered subject to eligibility under maternity benefit.

Any additional dependent member in addition to above [Sr. No. 5 (1)] can be covered under the Scheme by paying the fixed amount of premium. This additional full premium shall be borne by the beneficiary.

IDENTIFICATION OF FAMILY:

Beneficiaries shall be identified by a “Photo Smart Card” issued by the insurer to all beneficiaries which would have all personal details, medical history, policy limits etc. of the CGEPHIS members. This card would be used across the country to access Health Insurance Benefits. The photograph embedded in the chip of the Smart Card will be taken as the proof for determining the eligibility of the beneficiaries.

SUM INSURED AND BUFFER / CORPORATE SUM INSURED

SUM INSURED:

The Scheme shall provide coverage for meeting all expenses relating to hospitalization of beneficiary members up to Rs. 5, 00,000/- per family per year in any of the Empanelled Hospital/Nursing Home/Day Care Unit subject to stated limits on cashless basis through smart cards. The benefit shall be available to each and every member of the family on floater basis i.e. the total reimbursement of Rs. 5.00 lakh can be availed by one individual or collectively by all members of the family.

Entitlements for various types of wards: CGHS beneficiaries are entitled to facilities of private, semi-private or general ward depending on their pay drawn in pay band / pension. These entitlements are amended from time to time and the latest order in this regards needs to be followed. The entitlement is as follows:-

Pay drawn in pay band/Basic Pension - Entitlement

Rs. 13,950/-(up to)……………………………… General Ward

Rs. 13,960/- to 19,530/- …………………… Semi-Private Ward

Rs. 19,540/- and above ……………………… Private Ward

CASHLESS ACCESS SERVICE:

The Insurer has to ensure that all CGEPHIS members are provided with adequate facilities so that they do not have to pay any deposits at the commencement of the treatment or at the end of treatment to the extent as the Services are covered under the Scheme. The service provided by the Insurer along with subject to responsibilities of the Insurer as detailed in this clause is collectively referred to as the “Cashless Access Service.”

The services have to be provided by the Empanelled Hospitals/Nursing Homes/Day Care Clinics to the beneficiary based on Photo Smart Card authentication only without any delay. The beneficiaries shall be provided treatment free of cost for all such ailments covered under the Scheme within the limits/sub-limits of defined package rates and sum insured, i.e., not specifically excluded under the scheme.

ENROLMENT PROCESS

The process of enrolment shall be as under:

Serving Employees:

1. Departments and offices will call for options from employees to join voluntary CGEPHIS with or without existing CGHS/CS (MA) benefits.

2. Head of Department of the Administrative Ministry/Department would be the contact point for the Insurance Companies.

3. Enrolment forms giving details about self and family and authorization to the department for recovery of premium on a monthly basis would be consolidated by the Administrative Ministry / Department. The data of the beneficiary and dependent members to be covered along with 2 recent passport size photo and copy of enrolment form will be forwarded to Insurance Company on monthly basis.

4. Insurance Company will issue Smart Cards on the basis of information received of the beneficiaries for enrolment.

5. Such Smart Cards along with the enrollment kit shall be sent by the insurers directly to the insured persons at their respective mailing addresses at insurer’s cost within 7 days.

Insurance Premium:-

The beneficiary will have to pay an annual premium which will be determined after the formal introduction of the Scheme. It will vary according to the grade pay of the officer. The estimated annual premium for a standard family size will be in the range of Rs.8000 to Rs.12000 p.a. It is however proposed to be subsidized by the Government to a considerable extent.

આજકાલ જયા જુઓ ત્યાં મારું મારું જ થાય છે કોઈ આપનું એમ તો કેતુ જ નથી.

શિવસેના ના પ્રમુખ બાળ ઠાકરે ની ભાષા હવે ઉમર થઇ એટલે એલફેલ બોલવા માંડ્યા છે જો કે એમાં એમનું કઈ વાંક નથી. મહારાષ્ટ્ર માં છેલ્લા પાંચ વર્ષ થી કોન્ગ્રેસ્સ ની સરકાર છે અને હજી બીજા ચારેક વરસ સુધી તો ઠાકરે ભાઈ નો વારો આવે તેમ નથી અને કેન્દ્ર માં પણ છેલ્લા પાંચ વરસ થી મનમોહનસિંહ બેઠા છે અને હજી બીજા પાંચ વરસ તો હાલે એમ નથી એટલે જે ને ખુરશી ની ટેવ હોઈ અને નો મળે એટલે ઘાંઘા તો થઇ જ ને.

મૂળ તો શિવસેના નો જનમ જ પ્રાદેસીક્વાદ માં થયો છે મરાઠી માનુસ ને બધી જગ્યા એ અગ્રતા મળવી જોઈએ એ મુદ્દા પર તેઓ લોકપ્રિય થયા હતા.

ત્યાં પછી તેઓ ને લાગ્યું કે આગન વધવું હશે તો મરાઠી વાદ માં થી નીકળવું પડશે તેથી તેને હિન્દુવાદ પકડ્યો એમાં એને સાથ મળ્યો ભાજપ નો બને એ એકવાર સરકાર પણ બનાવી પરંતુ બીજી ચુંટણી માં હાર્યા.

આજ અરસા માં ઠાકરે સાબ ના છોકરાવ મોટા થયા પણ ભત્રીજા રાજ ઠાકરે ને લાગ્યું કે આમાં આપણો કઈ ગજ વાગે એમ નથી એટલે એને પોતાનો બીજો મોરચો ખોલ્યો બસ બધી મગજમારી આયથી ચાલુ થઇ ગઈ ઉદ્ધવ બાળ ઠાકરે માં કઈ દમ નથી ને રાજ ઠાકરે પોતાની શરૂઆત જોરશોર થી કરી એમાં ઠાકરે પરિવાર ને લાગ્યું કે આપની જમીન ગઈ એટલે આડેધડ જે હાથમાં આવ્યા એને માંડ્યા જુડવા. શાહરુખખાન, મુકેશ અંબાની, સચિન ,રાહુલ ગાંધી બધાને બાચકા ભરવા માંડ્યા છે. પણ મને લાગે છે કે હવે મરાઠી લાકો પણ આ ભવાઈ જોઇને થાક્યા હશે.

Rs 50,000 electricity bill shocks man to death

RAJKOT: Crackdown against power theft proved fatal for a man who died of heart attack in Kalipat village near Rajkot on Tuesday after he was handed over a bill of Rs 50,000 by officials of Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL). According to police, the incident occurred during a drive carried out by a PGVCL team to detect illegal electricity connections. During the checking, Amu Jadav was found to have committed the power theft of Rs 50,000, following which PGVCL officials issued him the bill of the same amount on Monday. "Fearing impending legal action and possible arrest if he failed to pay the amount, which the officials had asked him to pay on the spot, Jadav suffered a heart attack. Jadav's relatives assured him they would arrange for the money and sent him home on Monday night. However, Jadav was found in an unconscious state at his house, and he was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival," said assistant police inspector Pradyumansinh Parmar of Rajkot taluka police station. Meanwhile, Jadav's family staged a protest before the district collector and police, refusing to claim his body till the complaint was lodged against the concerned PGVCL officials. However, they were persuaded to take away the body by police and village leaders and the deceased was cremated. Jadav, a farmer, is survived by two sons and two daughters. Source: Sandesh

HC directs school to revise payscale

Over a decade after legal struggle by the teachers of a private school for pay parity, the Delhi High Court directed the institute on Monday to fix and revise the salary in accordance with the recommendation of the Fifth Pay Commission.
Justice Kailash Gambhir directed the Directorate of Education, NCT Delhi, to ensure the managing committee of Rukmini Devi Jaipuria Public School complied with the government’s September 1997 notification to pay the salary according to the recommendation of pay panel with effect from January 1996.
The court’s direction came after the Directorate of Education filed an affidavit stating 11 private schools in the city failed to comply with the government notification.
Filing a petition through counsel Ashok Aggarwal, a group of teachers alleged that the school management had decided to pay the staff salary with effect from April 1997 instead of January 1996 in violation of the Delhi government’s notification.
The counsel argued that as per the September 1997 notification, the schools were directed to strictly follow the rules otherwise the Directorate of Education can take action, including de-affiliation.
Despite repeated representations, the Education department has failed to act against the Rukimini Devi Jaipuria Public School, forcing the teachers to approach court, the lawyer also argued.

Pakistan cricket needs young blood, says Wasim

Former Pakistan captain and legendry pacer Wasim Akram has said that Pakistan lost the second Test against Australia in Sydney because of scare of defeat and urged the selectors to induct new blood in the team. In an exclusive interview with Deutsche Welle Urdu Service, Wasim, before leaving for India, said that in order to win Test matches against powerful teams one needed special talent, skill, passion and mental fitness. The present Pakistan side lacks these traits. Unlike Twenty20 and one-dayers, Test cricket is like a long race,” he added.Wasim suggested that cricket authorities of the country should give chance to new players after consistent failure of the senior players. “When the seniors are creating problems for the team and getting out after making only few runs then why not include younger players as they will learn in a year and serve the country for at least two decades. And for this purpose, captain, cricket board and selectors must sit together, communicate and plan. But, unfortunately, I can’t see that happening.” Due to security problems and foreign teams’ refusal to play in Pakistan, Pakistan hosted only one complete Test match in the last 27 months and according to Wasim playing away from home and lack of Test cricket was also one of the reasons of Sydney debacle. “They have played very few Test matches especially on the home soil and that’s why players are short of confidence,” maintained Wasim, who claimed 916 wickets in both forms of the game.Defending skipper Mohammad Yousuf defensive moves on the decisive day of the Sydney Test, Wasim said no body was born a leader. “Yousuf is an inexperienced captain and made few mistakes. But he will learn art of captaincy in the long run.” Wasim said coaches Intikhab Alam, Waqar Younus and Aaqib Javed should have told Yousuf when he was getting too defensive and what mistakes he was making. About wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal lapses, Wasim said Kamran was a wonderful and talented cricketer. “Last year his wicketkeeping seemed to be improving but he had a bad day at Sydney. Hopefully, he will work hard more because Pakistan team needs players like Kamran.” Commenting on Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure, Wasim said Pakistan had experienced regional system that was not successful because one cannot have control over regions. “Even players were deprived of their money which perhaps goes to officials. On the other hand, departments groom players by giving them jobs and players are more relaxed. But over all its a tough call for the cricket board and requires a lot of time for introducing a new domestic system and no one has time for this in this country.” Wasim advised the PCB to hold day-night one-day and Twenty20 domestic matches to keep things going and attract people in stadiums. Wasim Akram urged both India and Pakistan to hold a Test series. “Indo-Pak Test series is imperative because these matches not only generate revenue but also interest on both sides of the border,” he concluded.

Cricket World Cup 2011 trophy unveiled in Dhaka

The countdown for the 2011 Cricket World Cup has begun officially with the unveiling of the trophy at a ceremony in the Bangabandhu Conference Centre in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is hosting the tournament jointly with India and Sri Lanka.
Sharad Pawar, the chairman of the 2011 Cricket World Cup Central Organising Committee, formally handed over the trophy to the presidents of the relevant cricket boards: AHM Mustafa Kamal of Bangladesh; Shashank Manohar of India; and Somachandra de Silva of Sri Lanka.
International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive officer Haroon Lorgat was also present at the ceremony.
The tournament will begin on February 17, 2011, with Bangladesh hosting the opening ceremony.
India will host 29 matches of the 14-nation tournament at eight venues; Sri Lanka will host 12 matches at three venues; and Bangladesh will host eight games at two places.

Electric cars are coming here this year, but are they for you?

Electric cars have long been more of an idea than a reality. They've been hailed as the future of driving, yet they're hard to find on dealership lots. This year, that will change.
Several big automakers plan to start introducing a range of electric vehicles in late 2010 — with Tucson an early test market for one of them, the Nissan Leaf — giving the broader public its first chance to buy the vehicles that rely more on the electrical outlet than the gas pump. In the next several years, most major car companies plan to release vehicles that use electricity to get around.
But buying an electric vehicle isn't like purchasing a gas-powered car.
The big draw for many buyers is the chance to stop burning gas and drive a car that's better for the environment. But figuring out the fuel efficiency of electric cars isn't easy. Instead of keeping an eye on just gas prices, buyers will have to know how much they pay for electricity to charge the car. Away from home, finding a place to plug in could be difficult. Drivers also will have to figure out if a vehicle that could run out of power after 100 miles is right for them.
So what are some of the factors you should take into account if you're thinking about buying an electric car in the next several years? Here are some important questions and answers to consider.

Q: What type of electric vehicles will be available in 2010?
A: There is a fairly wide range coming onto the market. Vehicles such as Nissan's Leaf are purely electric, using just a rechargeable battery for power. The Chevrolet Volt, made by General Motors, also has a battery but includes a small gas-powered engine that creates electricity when the battery charge runs out after 40 miles. Other models are plug-in hybrids with engines that get power from both batteries and gas. But the common feature is that the vehicles can be recharged using a power cord and a plug.
Q: When will electric vehicles be available in the United States?
A: It varies by manufacturer. The Volt will be sold in limited numbers starting in November. GM says it will first sell the Volt in California and other undisclosed markets. Nissan plans to sell the Leaf all-electric vehicle in Tucson, Phoenix and other, mostly West Coast markets starting in December. Fisker Automotive, a niche electric-car company, plans to deliver its sports car, Karma, to dealers in the third quarter. But you may have to wait: Most automakers plan small initial production this year and in early 2011.
Q: How much will they cost?
A: Prices haven't been made public yet, but the Volt is expected to cost around $40,000 and the Leaf $30,000. Luxury models such as Karma and Tesla Motors' Roadster can cost up to $100,000. But buyers of electric vehicles will get a $7,500 federal tax credit this year. It's still unclear how comprehensive the warranties will be.
Q: How do I figure out the fuel efficiency?
A: That could be difficult. Price stickers for a gas vehicle include the number of miles it can travel on 1 gallon. But with Nissan's Leaf, there is no gas involved. The Volt does have a gas engine, but it isn't always in use. If you travel less than 40 miles per day — the maximum range of the Volt's battery — you may never end up using gas.
The Environmental Protection Agency, which sets standards for fuel efficiency, is still developing final guidelines for electric vehicles. GM said last year that the Volt can get 230 miles per gallon in city driving, an estimate based on draft EPA guidelines for electric vehicles.
But that figure has been criticized as misleading, since the Volt would get much lower mileage depending on how far you drive after the 40-mile battery range is used up and the gas motor kicks in. Environmental groups think the source of the electricity — often power plants that burn coal or natural gas — also should be publicized.
One way to judge how much it will cost you to run the car is to look at electricity prices. GM estimates a $1-per-day cost to fully charge the Volt. But keep in mind that prices for electricity vary significantly depending on the time of day.
Q: Can I just plug an electric vehicle into an outlet at home?
A: Yes, but you may want to figure out what kind of outlets you have. If you hook your electric car up to a 110-volt plug that is common in many houses, it could take a fairly long time to recharge the battery. Using a 220-volt plug could cut that time in half. An electrician may have to install special charging equipment at your home for some electric models.
You'll need to consider how easy it would be to find an outlet. If you don't have a garage, or park on the street in a city, it may be hard to power up overnight.
Q: How will electric vehicles perform?
A: Manufacturers say the power of the electric vehicles should be similar to that of their gas-powered cousins. But most aren't muscle cars. The Leaf, for example, has about as much horsepower as Nissan's subcompact brands and tops out at 90 miles per hour.
Q: Is this the right type of vehicle for me?
A: That is a key question to ask before you buy an electric car. Many are targeted to urban and suburban drivers who take relatively short trips each day. If you do a lot of highway driving or have a long commute, you could easily outdistance the range of the batteries. You'll need to have access to places to plug the car in. Public recharging stations are planned in Tucson, for example, but the infrastructure in the U.S. so far is fairly limited.
It may take awhile to work out the kinks in the new technology, so buyers this year and next may run into problems that will be fixed on later models. And keep in mind that nobody really knows yet how well these cars will sell — GM scrapped a similar attempt to mass market electric cars in the late 1990s, deeming it an unprofitable venture.

picks. Kiran More, former chairperson of India’s cricket selection committee, gives us a peek behind the scenes.

Forbes India: How strong is the pressure to prop the region from which the selector comes?
Kiran More: A lot. People from various associations call up and ask why their players have not been chosen; there is emotional pressure as you are the representative of a particular Zone. But your loyalty has to be for the Indian cricket team.
Forbes India: How big is the role of the captain during selection?
Kiran More: The captain plays an extremely vital role; it is he who has to be out in the field with the team. We make sure that we accommodate his views. But the selectors are the ones who spot the talent and have seen most of the players play, and therefore have a perspective that the captain cannot. We are responsible for making sure that there is a strong bench. So sometimes we have to put our foot down.
Forbes India: Do selectors pick players who put pressure in unconventional ways, bordering on foul play?
Kiran More: Players who have a slightly different character or an attitude do tend to have an edge. It is useful to have some one like Sreesanth, Harbhajan or Yuvraj in the team because of the kind of aggression that they have. Being nice is not always an asset. But this certainly cannot be the major reason that a player is chosen.
Forbes India: Did the selection committee ever consider dropping Sachin for poor form?
Kiran More: No. We have, especially in 2004-05, considered resting him to protect him from injury. He was at that time, passing through a bad health patch. But never for any other reason.
Forbes India: How much should a selector be paid if it has to become a truly independent job?
Kiran More: The job is demanding, takes a physical toll, with travel throughout the year. And the person has to have a strong character and a lot of people skills. I would say that Rs 40 lakh a year is a fair amount.
Forbes India: Typically, how many chances does a youngster have?
Eight to nine matches, which is a fair duration to judge performance.
Forbes India: Is international cricket experience necessary for selectors?
Kiran More: Not at all. A player with 15 to 20 years of Ranji Trophy matches is sufficiently skilled to spot a good, talented player.
Forbes India: Why did the selectors not back Sourav Ganguly in the feud with Greg Chappell?
Kiran More: There was no question of backing Greg Chappell. He had made some suggestions as he thought fit, but the selectors independently thought that it was time to drop Sourav for a number of reasons. Chappell had no right to decide who should or should not be selected.
Forbes India: Why did Rahul Dravid quit the captaincy just when it looked like he was going to be at that job for a few years?
Kiran More: That is a question that only Rahul can answer. He is a dear friend, but I can’t really speak on his behalf.

Pakistan dropped test over $5000

BRAD Haddin's mentor Steve Rixon revealed how he offered to help coach besieged Pakistan gloveman Kamran Akmal - but he was rejected because the Pakistan Cricket Board refused to pay a $5000 fee.
As the deflated tourists sent an SOS for deputy wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed, The Sunday Telegraph has learned former Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson was so concerned about Akmal's technical flaws he contacted Rixon in 2008.
Rixon, a former Test gloveman, agreed in principle to help Akmal, only to be knocked back when the PCB insisted it would not meet his asking price.
Lawson said the decision had returned to haunt Pakistan, who crashed to a second Test defeat last Wednesday after Akmal endured a nightmare behind the stumps by dropping four second-innings catches. "I would have absolutely helped him," said Rixon, who played 13 Tests and is renowned as one of world cricket's finest wicketkeeping coaches.
"Henry (Lawson) actually rang me when he was the Pakistan coach, trying to get me to work with Akmal. But it didn't eventuate because the board was counting their pennies. At the time, I had ICL (Indian Cricket League) commitments in India, I wasn't far away and there was a window of opportunity for me to help Kamran, which I was more than happy to do.
"Look at the two keepers (Haddin and Akmal) and their performances in that (Sydney) Test and it was the difference. Brad was great and if Kamran takes one of those four dropped catches, it's all over, Pakistan win the Test.
"I wasn't asking for much, it was petty, but for whatever reason the PCB didn't want a bar of it. They deserve everything they get."
A veteran of 48 Tests, Akmal is in danger of being axed for this week's third Test in Hobart, with Sarfraz, his deputy on last month's tour of New Zealand, summoned from Pakistan.
It has also emerged former Pakistan gloveman Rashid Latif advised the PCB last year to stand down Akmal for six months to improve his weight and keeping skills. But Lawson saw danger signs well before then.
After Akmal struggled for confidence following a series against India in November 2007, Lawson phoned Rixon. He says he was left bitterly disappointed when his request for coaching assistance was scuppered by Pakistan cricket's governing body.
"I asked the PCB to get Steve on board but they wouldn't come up with the money," recalls Lawson, who was sacked as coach last year. Rixon, a former Test gloveman, agreed in principle to help Akmal, only to be knocked back when the PCB insisted it would not meet his asking price.
Lawson said the decision had returned to haunt Pakistan, who crashed to a second Test defeat last Wednesday after Akmal endured a nightmare behind the stumps by dropping four second-innings catches. "I would have absolutely helped him," said Rixon, who played 13 Tests and is renowned as one of world cricket's finest wicketkeeping coaches.
"Henry (Lawson) actually rang me when he was the Pakistan coach, trying to get me to work with Akmal. But it didn't eventuate because the board was counting their pennies. At the time, I had ICL (Indian Cricket League) commitments in India, I wasn't far away and there was a window of opportunity for me to help Kamran, which I was more than happy to do.
"Look at the two keepers (Haddin and Akmal) and their performances in that (Sydney) Test and it was the difference. Brad was great and if Kamran takes one of those four dropped catches, it's all over, Pakistan win the Test.
"I wasn't asking for much, it was petty, but for whatever reason the PCB didn't want a bar of it. They deserve everything they get."
A veteran of 48 Tests, Akmal is in danger of being axed for this week's third Test in Hobart, with Sarfraz, his deputy on last month's tour of New Zealand, summoned from Pakistan.
It has also emerged former Pakistan gloveman Rashid Latif advised the PCB last year to stand down Akmal for six months to improve his weight and keeping skills. But Lawson saw danger signs well before then.
After Akmal struggled for confidence following a series against India in November 2007, Lawson phoned Rixon. He says he was left bitterly disappointed when his request for coaching assistance was scuppered by Pakistan cricket's governing body.
"I asked the PCB to get Steve on board but they wouldn't come up with the money," recalls Lawson, who was sacked as coach last year.

China now top auto market Surge to estimated 13.6M sales in '09 passes slumping U.S.

It's official: China is the world's largest vehicle market after passing the United States last year for the first time.
Passenger car sales totaled 10.3 million in China last year, according to the China Passenger Car Association. Including trucks, total Chinese vehicle sales are estimated at 13.6 million units, up 45 percent, it said.
By contrast, U.S. car and light truck sales shrank 21.2 percent to 10.4 million in 2009, according to Autodata Corp. Including medium and heavy tracks, they would come close to 10.7 million units.

Demand for vehicles picked up in the U.S. in the second half, helped by a "cash-for-clunkers" program that also took many older and more polluting vehicles off the road. The Chinese government offered similar incentives.
Chinese auto sales began to take off early in the last decade, helped by the emergence of a middle class with savings and pent-up demand for modern cars.
The growth in China's auto market -- and last year's surge -- has consistently surpassed forecasters' expectations.
"This is even better than anyone expected," Rao Da, general secretary of the China Passenger Car Association, told a news conference Friday in Shanghai, according to the Associated Press.
The Chinese organization's figures were in line with revised forecasts from J.D. Power and Associates of 12.7 million sales of cars and light trucks and 900,000 larger vehicles in 2009 for a total of 13.6 million.
"It's very, very strong growth, far beyond the expectations we had in the early part of 2009," said John Bonnell, a J.D. Power analyst.
On average, analysts expect Chinese auto sales to grow another 10 percent this year. Barring extreme economic or political upheaval, China is expected to remain the No. 1 market in the foreseeable future.
Its rise ahead of the U.S. market is the latest milestone on its path to become a global economic power. After a two-decade boom, China is believed to have passed Germany last year as the biggest exporter.
With a population of 1.3 billion, it is expected to overtake Japan soon as the second-largest economy after the U.S.
Automakers such as General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co., and Volkswagen AG have benefited from the boom in China, where they sell vehicles produced in ventures with local partners. China is VW's biggest market.
GM says sales of its vehicles and those produced by its local partners rose 67 percent in China last year, while Ford's sales increased 44 percent.

At a programme organised by by the MP Housing Board Employees Association today, Housing and Environment Minister Jayant Malaiya announced Sixth Pay Commission Recommendation to employees and officers of MP Housing Board from September 1 last year.Not satisfied with the announcement, Housing Board Employees Association Bhopal President HSS Raghuanshi submitted a memorandum to the minister appealing him to announce the Sixth Pay Commission recommendation at least with effect from September 1, 2008. MAT bench upholds salary hike for APPs

AURANGABAD: About 350 assistant public prosecutors (APPs) in the state, selected through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), have got a financial boost after the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) bench at Aurangabad upheld their claim for a reasonable hike in pay. On Thursday, the MAT directed the government that the APPs be placed in the scale of Rs 8,000-13,500, with effect from January 1, 1996, in accordance with the Fifth Pay Commission recommendation. With this judgement, the APPs are set to receive consequential benefits of both the Fifth and the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations. According to Avinash S Deshmukh, the lawyer for the APPs, following the implementation of the Fifth Pay Commission recommendations in 1998 (that came into effect from January 1, 1996), the APPs had approached the MAT (in 1999) seeking directives to the government for treating them on par with other equal ranking officials working in departments like animal husbandry, accounts and treasury and directorate of education, who were being in a pay scale of Rs 8,000-13,500. Then, the APPs were placed in the pay scale of Rs 7,450 to 11,500. The tribunal had then directed the government to consider their demand and, subsequently, the government appointed the Lagwankar Committee to look into the issue. The APPs were asked to submit their grievances before the committee. "The APPs pointed out to the committee that the recommendation of Sukhtankar Committee has recommended a grant of Rs 8,000 to Rs 13,500 scale to such posts which required minimum qualification of graduation and were being filled through the MPSC. The APPs were double graduates and had also been selected through the MPSC. But, the Lagwankar Committee chose to reject the APPs' demand and the state government took the same stand," Deshmukh said on Friday. The APPs again approached the MAT by filing a second application in 2002. During the course of hearing, MAT member S B Dhatrak told the principal secretary (home) to file an affidavit to clarify the government's stand. Following subsequent arguments, Dhatrak upheld the contention of APPs' lawyer, Deshmukh, and said, "Pay scale of the post of APP filled through the MPSC is re-fixed as revised pay scale from January 1, 1996, as Rs 8,000-13,500 with consequential financial benefits. The respondents, i.e. the government, secretary (finance) and secretary (home), have also been directed to issue necessary orders within two months from the communication of this order to them and should pay arrears, if any, within two months thereafter to all the beneficiaries". LAS VEGAS — Everybody is showing off new e-readers at CES this year, and Samsung is no exception. But there is one reason for you to keep reading this post. With Samsung’s e-book, you can write on the pages.
We knew e-books would be a hot item at this year’s show, but the surprise is that there are so many large format readers. Samsung’s small range tops out with a 10-incher, which joins the Kindle DX in its new international clothing, and Plastic Logic’s enormous 8.5 x 11-inch Que proReader.
Samsung’s e-books, the E6 and E101, look just like any other black and white e-ink device. When you’re done reading either of the 6- or 10-inch books, though, you can pull out a stylus and start scrawling. These sticks come in various thicknesses and use “electromagnetic resonance” to draw lines on the page.
The smaller readers also have secret, slide-out controls hidden behind the screen, and an on-screen, soft QWERTY lets you type real text — your stylus scribblings remain just that, and are not automagically transformed into actual text. Still, its a lot easier to jot notes on top of your pages than to do it the Kindle way and tortuously tap out text on the chiclet keyboard.
The readers grab content over Wi-Fi (no 3G) and can display PDF, ePub and plain text files. I played with them briefly at Samsung’s stand (”No pictures, sir. It’s our policy this year.”) and took some pictures. The e-ink screen is much the same as any other, but when using the stylus to navigate, the local refreshing that draws menus is cleaner (but no quicker) than, say, the Kindle.
The navigation itself is clunky, and you never know whether you should be pressing an actual button, touching the stylus to the screen or using a finger (hint: fingers don’t work). Drawing, though, is responsive, and just like using a real pencil.
The e-readers need some work, and feel like the prototypes they are. Hopefully, there will be some additional polish before these go to market, otherwise it will be yet another rushed product hoping to grab some sales from the flawed leader, the Kindle. Also, a quick question to the visitor at the Samsung stand who asked, “Just what is the main difference between this and the iPod Touch?” Are you serious?
$400 or $700, depending on size. And don’t say “Magna-doodle.” The pictured prototype with a hardware keyboard does not yet have a price.

Assam State disabled employees getting raw deal

The disabled employees of the Assam Government have alleged that they are getting a raw deal from the Government and despite repeated requests, the concessions and benefits given to the Central Government employees are not given in the state as yet. The disabled employees made it clear that they are keen on working like any other employee and the only thing they want is certain privileges to overcome their disabilities.The State Government Disabled Employees’ Parishad recently submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister highlighting the discrepancies and sought his intervention in this regard. The Parishad had earlier submitted a memorandum to the Sixth State Pay Commission enlisting their demands but most of the demands were not granted by the Commission.The Parishad, in the memorandum to the Chief Minister, said that the 6th Central Pay Commission provided disability allowance of Rs 1,000 per month, but in case of State Government, the Pay Commission only granted the same allowance of Rs 500 per month.The memorandum said that the child care allowance for the disabled employees should be increased to Rs 2000 from Rs 500 and the quota in the State Government jobs for disabled persons in Government jobs should be increased from three percent to six percent. The memorandum said that the interest subsidy of four percent recommended for disabled persons to procure disabled friendly vehicles is not at all adequate as the cost of such vehicles is much higher due to the modifications required.Members of the Parishad said that in its memorandum to the 6th State Pay Commission, it had demanded several other concessions required for the disabled persons but most of the demands were not met. The Parishad demanded that the disabled employees should be exempted from professional tax and the disabled persons should be provided with quarters near their work place. If the Government is not able to provide quarters to the disabled employees near the work place, they should be provided additional house rent allowance, the Parishad demanded. The Parishad further demanded that the disabled employees should be given 24 casual leaves a year instead of 15 and they should be exempted from certain duties like election duties. The disabled employees should be provided LTC in every two years to enable them to go for regular medical check up outside the state and they should be allowed to travel in ASTC buses at concessional rates. But the Parishad alleged that most of the demands are not met by the State Government and the Pay Commission also failed to make such recommendations.

Private gratuity limit set to go up

The Centre is planning to raise the ceiling for the payment of gratuity to private sector employees to Rs 10 lakh from Rs 3.5 lakh, bringing them on a par with their government peers.
The Union cabinet, scheduled to meet on Saturday, is likely to take a decision on the proposal of the labour ministry.
The move, which has been in the pipeline for several months, follows the Sixth Pay Commission’s recommendation to raise the limit for central government employees.
The cabinet’s approval will ensure equal gratuity benefits for both government and private employees.
Gratuity is a statutory benefit governed by the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972. Under the act, an employer must pay employees a certain amount if they leave their jobs after at least five years. The sum is 15 days of salary — the base is the last drawn income — for every year of service subject to a limit of Rs 3.5 lakh.
Trade unions had been demanding a higher ceiling for the private sector. Some trade unions had also insisted against fixing any upper ceiling, but the labour ministry said this would put a burden on the employers, sources said.
The ministry had held consultations with various stakeholders on raising the ceiling, the sources said.
The gratuity act applies to factories and other establishments employing 10 or more people.
Since gratuity is an income, an employee has to pay taxes on it. However, gratuity up to Rs 3.5 lakh is exempted under the provisions of Section 10(10) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
During the last session of Parliament, the Centre had amended the gratuity act to clarify the definition of an employee. According to the new law, anybody who is earning a wage is characterised as an employee and is liable to receiving gratuity. Teachers were brought within the ambit of the act in the last session of Parliament, providing benefit to over 60 lakh teachers.

Pay Hike Consequences in IMPHAl

The state cabinet’s decision yesterday to pay its employees per the 6th Pay Commission’s recommendation is commendable but we hope the government has taken care it has the means to do this. The whole state has witnessed what it can mean to not care about this in the wake of the 5th Pay Commission and the then government’s decision to implement it without first closely checking its bank balance is adequate to meet what it promised. Granted even the last government was forced into doing what it did by striking employees who stopped all services, including quite atrociously very essential ones. Those of us already in the news business at the time, and by the call of the profession had to follow events during those troubled times blow by blow, would remember having even to watch the momentous event in the sporting history of Manipur – that of Ngangom Dingko, winning the Asian boxing title – on televisions in homes or offices which possessed generator sets. Fortunate for the media, the generator is an essential accessory of the business. Probably the present government is trying to avoid such a situation, and probably its promise too still does not have the assurance of monitory support from the Centre and it is acting only on a presumption this support would have to come sometime or the other.But if the strike by state employees demanding pay hike at a par with Central employees was bad the last time around, the consequences of conceding to pay outside of means was no less disastrous. It was literally a case of jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. Until the next Finance Commission took care of the rather intimidating budgetary shortfall, the state was literally in hell. Government salaries were held up for as many as six months at a time, pension queues outside banks were a perennial pitiful sights, the state government’s credit balance at the RBI made banner headlines in local newspapers, clearance of bills for government contracts job remained inordinately delayed, living on credit became a norm, the market lost practically all its liquidity for government salaries form the major share of the money circulating in it, and although no real survey was ever done, there probably would have been a number of small subsistent businesses which were unable to absorb the shock and had had to close shops. The scenario was reportedly the same in many other states. Reports in the media at the time, including a cover story by India Today, if we recall correctly, said 15 state governments were either broke or were on the verge of it. These included among others, West Bengal and Maharashtra. The crucial difference however was that the shock on the people because of the government going broke in Maharashtra for instance was not the same as the government going broke in Manipur. This is so because in the former, there is a self sustaining economy outside of the government and this independent economy although obviously hit hard, would not be in any immediate danger of being destroyed. The same could not have been said of Manipur, and cannot still be said.

The blacked out A-pillars give the impression of a wrap around windscreen, while the shapely tapered rear window enriches the dynamic profile. The Center will be a premium interdisciplinary Automotive Design, Engineering and Management institution, thus covering all the domains within Automobile Industry. This is what makes it unique and first of its kind.
Dilip Chhabria will be the chief mentor at the DYP-DC Center and will drive its ethos, design philosophy and curriculum that are rooted in the actual industry practice. DYP – DC Center for Automotive Research and Studies will start with offering undergraduate and post-graduate course in automotive styling from August 2010. The course will be for a period of 3 years and 2 years respectively.
Another special feature of the DYP-DC Center is the “Center for Research”. Research is an extremely important component of any educational process. On one side research helps to augment the quality of education and on other side, it builds bridges with the industry and society. The main objective of Center for Research will be to promote and perform a broad range of world-class research to provide solutions to the automotive industry’s most-pressing challenges. The research spectrum would include: intelligent design, future of transportation, green materials, new materials, alternative fuels; sensors and actuators; safety systems; environmental impacts; vehicle design; and human factors / ergonomics.
Over the coming three years the Center would be offering a mix of undergraduate and post graduate specializations in Automotive Design, Engineering and Management. The eligibility criteria for admission are completion of XII for under graduate courses and graduation in any discipline for post-graduate courses. The intake will be carefully selected after a rigorous entrance examination and the perceived ability of student to create a positive difference to the automobile industry.
The DYP-DC Center will be the only leading resource for the automotive industry, where students as a part of their course will also design and build an actual car.

Tata Technologies, a provider of engineering services outsourcing and product development IT services to global manufacturing industry, said that it will display Tata Nano for the first time in North America in Detroit on January 14, 2009. Tata Nano is the world's lowest price passenger car engineered by Tata Technologies and produced by Tata Motors in India.
Tata Nano was introduced at Delhi Auto Show in January 2009 and retails for about $2,500 in India. The model on display in Detroit is owned by Tata Technologies and is on loan from its Center for Advanced Engineering and Design in Pune, India.
Warren Harris, president and COO of Tata Technologies, said: “The innovative thinking that brought the Tata Nano to market is symbolic of what Tata Technologies has to offer the automotive industry. Tata Technologies was front-and-center in engineering and developing the Nano; working closely with Tata Motors and with a significant number of the Nano project suppliers.”
Kevin Fisher, head of global delivery at Tata Technologies, said: “Our work on the Nano is part of a sweeping wave of change within the automotive industry, the use of truly global engineering resources.”
Tata Technologies was involved from concept to launch on Nano project, working on the concept, advanced engineering, body-in-white, interior, exterior and also playing a role in approach taken to manufacturing.

WAGE REVISION AGREEMENT REACHED - TO BE SIGNED ON 15-01-2010
In the wage Negotiation Committee meeting held today (07-01-2010), overall understanding
is reached on all major issues. The two major pending issues are settled as below:
1. Span of the Pay Scale
At present our existing Pay scales are having 15 years span. In the revised pay scales,
management initially proposed to fix 12 years span. But we achieved a great success and
now management has agreed to increase the span of the pay scales as below:
NE – 1 18 years. (All will get Promotion/Retirement before reaching 18 years Span.)
NE -2 to 4 21 Years
NE – 5 to 6 22 Years
NE – 7 to 11 21 Years.
This increase in the span of the pay scales will solve the problem of stagnation to a great
extent. We have sought for som e more improvement.
2. Uniform: Uniform will continue without any change.
The Draft of the Agreement will be given to staff side on 13
January and the Agreement will be signed on 15 January, 2010.

Accident on Hill Road is a cunning and energetic thriller that takes its premise from the real-life incident of a woman who hit a man, then drove home and parked the car in the garage with the man wedged halfway through her windshield. Celina Jaitly stars as Sonam Chopra, a hard-partying, overworked nursing assistant in this delicious, darkly humorous psychological thriller from director Mahesh Nair.
Sonam accidentally steers her car into the harmless Prakash Shrivastava, movingly played by Farooque Shaikh, sending him flying through the windshield. Not wanting to jeopardize her future, Sonam, along with her drug-peddling boyfriend Sid (Abhimanyu Singh), chooses not to get him medical help, leaving him clinging to life in her garage. But soon her psyche begins to unravel as captor and captive are pitted against each other in a bloody and outrageous battle for survival. Be prepared for ingeniously nasty and often shockingly funny entertainment.

The film's far-fetched premise involves Celina Jaitley as a dim-witted hospital nurse who doesn't know what to do when she accidentally knocks down a man with her car, and he's injured and stuck in her shattered windscreen. She leaves him in her garage, his rear end sticking out of her glass. She whacks him with a cricket bat. She has him tied up, and more or less choked in a plastic bag. She even douses him with petrol. The victim, a true braveheart (played by Farooque Shaikh), miraculously survives this treatment. Meanwhile, Gulal's Abhimanyu Singh plays Celina's sleazy, drug-dealer boyfriend who shows up to help her with her little problem.
The film's convenient screenplay never allows you to empathise with either the victim or the guilty although you know that both are desperate and in great pain over their respective situations. The performances are embarrassingly over-the-top, even as Celina turns convulsing into a new acting style, and Abhimanyu mutilates the English dialogue with his stilted delivery. Your heart goes out to poor Farooque Shaikh who spends the most part of the film with his bum sticking out into the air. If it wasn't so unintentionally comical, this film would be a test of your endurance.

BOLO RAAM Movie review

Bolo Raam is a fast-paced and gripping thriller, murder mystery. A boy, Raam (Rishi Bhutani), is charged with the murder of his mother, Archana (Padmini Kolhapure). On the other hand, Raam falls into a state of shock, brief psychotic disorder, after his mother’s death and becomes silent, refusing to talk or react in any manner. The story unfolds as the investigating officer, Indrajeet Singh Rathi, much to his frustration is puzzled and unable to make Raam speak. He consults a Psychiatrist, Dr. Ns. Negi to determine the cause of Raam’s state of mind and the reason for his silence.
Bolo Raam progresses as he interrogates various personalities for the case, questioning Raam. Every possible motive that Raam might have for murdering his mother is explored. Furthermore Raam’s neighbors, Sub-Inspector Sajid Khan (Govind Namdeo), his daughter, Juhi (Disha Pandey) and son, Sameer (Krishan Khatra) are summoned by Rathi for interrogation. This is BOLO RAAM, will his silence solve the puzzle?
An angry young man Raam (Rishi Bhutani) who also happens to be a momma’s boy is incidentally arrested on charges of murder of his mother (Padmini Kolhapure). Raam chooses to stay mute and ironically the film is titled Bolo Raam with everyone in the cast asking him about the motive of murder. Sub-inspector Khan (Govind Namdeo) who also happens to be Raam’s neighbour declares him maniac but senior inspector Rathi (Om Puri) wants to solve the mystery.
So Raam’s leela unravels in the form of frequent flashbacks which contribute zilch towards solving the suspense but works only towards glorifying his heroic traits which are recklessly redundant to the plot. Perhaps director Rakesh Chaturvedi assumes he has an ace in his hands with the climactic twist but the puzzle is so peripheral to the plot that the film almost changes genre from suspense to social drama. There is absolutely no buildup to the mystery. Rather unnecessary reels are wasted in whacking up a tourist guide (Rajpal Yadav) who is subsequently served with biryani . Also a psychiatrist’s analysis is added only to supplement a special appearance by Naseeruddin Shah.
Debutante Rishi Bhutani struggles to stuff in every possible characteristic of a hero in his role but fails to be an actor. The ice-in-veins act isn’t cool anymore. The lad tries making an effort but isn’t able to rise above the tacky script. It’s pleasing to see Padmini Kolhapure after a hiatus. Om Puri is regular. Naseeruddin Shah is wasted. Comparatively Govind Namdeo is decent among others and doesn’t ham like he has been doing off late.

The “Bheja Fry” team is back with yet another comedy film but this time with a serious plot about relationships. “One night stand”, as the title is vowed for, will see a lot of one night stand hangovers, filthy and mischievous secrets about couples, wives suspecting husbands on link-ups and all that. This movie is probably the last release of 2009 with a lot of hope attached.
The movie is directed by Sourabh Shukla and it is said that the movie is inspired from the Hollywood crewball comedy flick “The Hangover” 2009 by director Todd Phillips. Sourav Shukla like an intelligent director does not flaunt the sexual content in the movie and has framed the movie according to the sensibility of the Indian minds.
The main theme is based on the party and the real story starts from there. He has depicted clearly how people react after gulping down high pegs of alcohol! He has clearly observed the situation and has captured it beautifully on screen. He has added those witty flavors of his and has fantastically brought out the true reaction of the people after a heavy drink. The subject of the movie is quite innovative which was never taken before in the Hindi film industry.
The actors are very talented no doubt about that with Neha Dhupia, Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Dalip Tahil, Irawati Harshe Mayadev, Anu Menon, Navniit Nisshan and Ranvir Shourey ,along with a very special appearance. I’ll not reveal anything about his special appearance but yes he will be a fun to watch.
The dialogues are crisp and don’t get elaborated to avoid sounding monotonous. The humor in the film is sophisticated and gives a relief from the loud jokes we usually get to witness turning out quite silly at times. The script is kept tight and not over exaggerated.
We will see Sophia, Neha’s character in the movie with over rated sex appeal who will come out with lot of emotions but lack of depth in her voice.
The story revolves around Rahul, the central character in the film and his probable one night stand with Sophia. The question which bothers Rahul and his perplexed mind is that did he do it? The movie brings out the ups and downs of married life through the stories of Rahul and his married pals Saxena & Amit. Sophia, the lady in question will be a lookout in the movie.
The story is coined by Sourav Shukla and Rajat Kapoor and produced by Pritish Nandy Communications.
You really have to go to the theaters and check out what the hell has happened last night! It will be a very funny experience and doesn’t bore you at any time during the run. A movie worth watching! I know you people must have enjoyed watching ‘Bheja Fry’ but this time the crew has come up with a subject which is quite unique in its own way. Get ready to catch a glimpse of some crazy experiences and some spontaneous acting skills in the last released film of 2009.

Respected Sir,
Recently the notification of LDCE for JTO is issued. We, the DR TTAs are the highly educated
and most hardworking cadre in Non-executives in BSNL. We are handling almost all the services of
BSNL everywhere at each level.
We had demanded the reduction in qualifying service condition in JTO RR-2001 from 10 years
to 5 years and had also given the guidelines from DoPT in support of our demand. The qualifying
service condition was reduced to 7 years and the notification issued for the LDCE with the seven-year condition. The situation is that there are more vacancies than the number of eligible candidates.
I request you to consider the demand for 2 years relaxation as one time measure so more number of candidates will be eligible and get chance to prove themselves. Already vacancies are more than the eligible candidates. If 2 years relaxation will be given, then also the eligible candidates will be much less than the Vacancies. Making more candidates eligible will not affect the quality of the selection, as they are qualified and would enhance the competition of the LICE.
We understand the situation is created by some court case in Kerala circle, but the heart of the
matter is the carrier progression of the highly educated and hard working employees of BSNL. I believe that the CARRIER PROGRESS is the most important remuneration to an employee in any organization.
I once again request you to see the matter with a different point of view being head of the HR
department.

3 Idiots which tells us the story of three friends whose dismal grade point averages at their college influence their friendship, romance. 3 Idiots has Aamir Khan as Rancho, a handsome nd adventurous young man, who loves his friends more than anything else (more than his parents too). He hates being a book worm like other of his college mates, so always ends up getting low grades in his college exams. He believes in doing things his way and ends up having five pointers as his GPA.
Madhavan plays Farhan Qureshi, a shy guy by nature who wants to be handsome like Rancho. He is average at studies, pretty bad at viva. He falls in love with Pia Sahastrabuddhe (Kareena Kapoor), his Professor’s daughter Viru Sahastrabudhhe (Boman Irani). He always messes up when he attempts to impress Mr Kurien. Sharman Joshi plays Raju Rastogi - a simple boy who wants to get good grades and earn money to overcome poverty of his family. 3 Idiots is a comedy of ideas that is as provocative as it is funny, as wildly entertaining as it is insightful. A laugh-riot that talks about the most important of human pursuits: self-actualization.

The movie starts through narrations that take you into the flashback when Rancho, Farhan and Raju arrive at a premier engineering institute to begin their course. The three are roommates and go about their life at college in a lively way occasionally Raju and Farhan being worried about Rancho’s antics. Rancho clearly is different from anyone else in the college with his individualistic thought-process and rebellious attitude, which invites the ire of the college principal and affection of his daughter Pia. Boman Irani, as the principal, almost revives his disciplinarian dean characterization from Munnabhai MBBS which is more palpable with his disgust towards the rebellious protagonist. Nevertheless, Hirani’s direction is so impeccable that without a conscious effort, the analogy never strikes your mind and the scenario never looks repetitive.

But, yes, there’s no denying that Aamir makes you forget all his past achievements as you watch the amazing actor play Rancho. To state that this ranks amongst his finest works would be an understatement. Madhavan is incredible, especially in the sequence when he explains his point of view to his father. Sharman is outstanding from start to end. This was a difficult role to portray and only an actor of caliber could’ve pulled it off. Boman is superb as the vicious head of the institute. The scenes between Aamir and Boman are extra-ordinary and it’s a treat to watch these two powerful actors clash on the big screen, without getting over-dramatic. Boman’s appearance, mannerisms and dialogue delivery are exemplary.

In his trademark style, Hirani grabs your attention from scene one with an unconventional opening to the film. Thereafter every single scene written in the screenplay is not just relevant but also has a clear set objective – to be funny. Which means it either makes you laugh or cry and at some superlative instances do both simultaneously. The writers have kept absolutely no room for any intermediate option. The movie has some really hilarious moments with wedding reception mayhem of Viru’s oldest daughter played by Mona Singh, Raju’s father being reached to the hospital in a very funny way on a two-wheeler and so on. The first half keeps you at wits end. But, enter second half and you are no longer given the same experience of the first half. The end stretches a bit too long and some things are just too away from spontaneity. The music is light and entertaining. On the whole, 3 idiots is a must watch, the film has tremendous youth appeal and feel-good factor to work in a big way.
